Approaching Network Marketing Prospects, What Are They Seeking?

Posted by | Posted in Marketing, Networking | Posted on 25-08-2009

Anyone who has shown an interest in a home-based business opportunity, commonly known as network marketing or MLM has one burning question:

What’s in it for me?

Right from the beginning of time, we humans have taken every decision we ever made on this basis. It may sound harsh, it may sound selfish but it’s the most basic form of human instinct and it’s a concept that it’s vital to take into consideration when seeking prospects for your business.

So, ask yourself this question:

Are the marketing and prospecting methods you are currently using the best, the most professional and the most effective they can be in order to bring people in to your business?

Is everything you do in your lead generation concentrated on showing the prospect ‘What’s in it for them?’

Glossy presentations and brochures and promises of 6-figure incomes when promoting an MLM program are totally wasted if the prospect doesn’t make the connection between the presentation and actually being able to envisage making this
thing work for themselves.

Put yourself in the prospect’s shoes. You’ve just finished your 5-minute presentation or your napkin presentation or shown your company DVD or whatever your own in-house method of recruitment may be. The prospect likes the sound of it but then asks the 100,000 dollar question:

‘Well that sounds great, but what do I have to do to make that kind of money?’

Here are two possible replies to that question. Remember, you’re still in the prospect’s shoes so which reply would you prefer to hear?

Answer no. 1
Well, first off you make a list of all your family and friends and you talk to them/send them an email using the prepared script put together by our marketing department.

What’s that, you’d feel embarrassed pestering people you know? No, don’t worry about that, we have the best product in the world and they’re your friends, they’re bound to be interested, certain to want to help you get started in your business.

And then once we’ve been through everyone you know we can start you off delivering leaflets and brochures around your neighborhood. Don’t worry, we can get you a special printing rate and the exercise will do you good.

You’re certain to get lots of new leads and prospects that way. Oh, and we have lots of other ways too. You can stand in your shopping mall with your business card and speak to everyone who passes by. See, it’s so easy to get started in this business, you’ll be flying in no time.

Answer no. 2

Well, in our company we firmly believe that the only kind of prospects worth pursuing are those who have already shown an interest in what we are selling. So we only spend time with people who come to us first, not the other way round.

This means that from Day 1 you are effectively marketing your business opportunity to people who have already proved they want to be involved.

I think you’ll agree that 99.9% of prospects would much prefer to hear answer no. 2, and it’s a much more effective way of addressing the question of ‘what’s in it for me?’.

Approach Your MLM Business As An Apprentice

Posted by | Posted in Marketing, Networking | Posted on 25-08-2009

Have you considered becoming an apprentice in your network marketing Business? Imagine how differently you might feel about moving forward if you looked at it from this perspective.

Have you ever hesitated to talk to someone about your business because you didn’t know exactly the right thing to say? Did you make the decision not to take any steps in your business until you know everything there is to know about it?

Are you fearful that you might not know the answer to a question or know how to respond to a comment? Have you ever quit a business after a few weeks for various reasons?

Maybe you are evaluating things based on the wrong mind set and the wrong data. Do you have a probation period in your business? Have you considered this and set this up for yourself?

Examine your thinking and make sure you are evaluating your business success based on the right criteria. Most jobs have a 30-90 day probation period, right? And, per a job description, you must be performing certain tasks daily to pass that probation period, right?

Are you expected to have all of the answers on day one? Or, are you expected to take action and learn and find solutions as you move on?

Being an apprentice means taking action and learning as you go along. It’s not about locking yourself up in a closet and working on things until you get them perfect. It’s about knowing that you have resources and a safety net to catch you as you take your first shaky steps in your business. It’s knowing that with each step, you learn a little more and you get a little better.

What if you went into your business with the mindset of being an apprentice? What if your upline was willing to coach you and you just need to commit to being an apprentice? Would you do it? And, remember that you can apprentice from others outside of your upline as well.

There are tons of great leaders in the industry. If someone else is getting results that you want, commit to learn from and follow that person. If you are struggling in one area, are you willing to watch someone who has the skill set you want and learn from them? Then, will you act on it?

Set up the job description that you would give yourself if you were hiring you for a job. What would the daily and weekly tasks consist of? What would be the minimum required to keep the job?

Then, set up a probationary period for the job. Keep a tracking sheet that lists your daily and weekly tasks. Evaluate yourself at the end of each week. Focus on what you must do to improve for the next week. No sense beating yourself up for what didn’t get done.

Play full out to the end of your probationary period and then evaluate where your next steps will lead. Do you need another apprenticeship? Are you committed enough to step out on your own?

Treat your network marketing business like the business that it is. Accept that you have entered a new career path and the best thing you can do is accept an apprenticeship from others who have achieved what you want. There are eager colleagues out there ready to advise and counsel you. Just ask!

Affiliate Marketing; Do Not Pass Up The Opportunity

Posted by | Posted in Marketing, Networking | Posted on 25-08-2009

If you are new to the Internet money making machine called Affiliate marketing then this article is for you. Affiliate marketing has evolved from the days when Amazon.com offered webmasters a pay-for-performance opportunity if they advertised and sold books supplied by Amazon on their websites.

Today the products that produce large profits for Affiliate marketers are adult, gambling and retail industry. On the other hand, there are properly optimized websites drawing over $100,000 per month in Affiliate money through other avenues.

Companies that will pay you a percentage of the sale of a product you advertised are known as “Publishers”. You (the advertiser/seller) are known as the “Affiliate”. Google Adsence is a form of marketing where you’re paid when someone clicks on an advertisement on your website (you get paid whether they buy or not).

The difference between Affiliate marketing and Google Adsence is…Affiliate money is made on the sale and Google Adsense money is made on the click.

In most cases Affiliate programs that pay per sale will generate higher profits in the short term. Websites or Affiliate Networks such as ClickBank, Commission Junction, Link share and others provide the advertising channels of Affiliate Marketing and will handle all financial transactions between Publishers and Affiliates.

It is not always necessary to use a company like Click Bank or Commission Junction to find a network of Publishers but it does make good sense. Some online businesses prefer to handle the affiliate financial transactions themselves.

For businesses offering products and services for sale to the public it also makes good business sense to develop a sustainable Marketing campaign that includes Affiliate marketing (but choose your affiliates wisely). Although it could be hard to track you want to make every effort to ensure your affiliates do not use spam tactics to market your product.

Some Publishers offer bonuses to top performing Affiliates which fosters a more driven promotion campaign. There are people making 6+ figure annual incomes from this type of marketing. Do not think for a minute successful affiliate marketers have not put in the necessary research and development of their skills to get there.

The most difficult part of marketing any product online is attracting leads and driving them through the purchasing cycle. The aforementioned entails a highly optimized website with content that shows the consumer why they should purchase said product.

Affiliate Marketing is not a “get rich quick” business model. What it is, is a opportunity for the average individual that would like to work from home to do so and have more flexibility with their time. There are not many 9 – 5 jobs that offer the opportunities Affiliate Marketing does.

Remember; if you’re an advertiser marketing affiliate products on your website, choose your affiliate programs wisely. Sometimes it isn’t as wise to select the most popular affiliate program as they could be over advertised (or saturated). You can find less popular affiliate programs in a similar market as those that are on every shelf so to speak. Doing your own review of your affiliate products is a good idea because it not only gives consumers some incite but it could also build your credibility. The is no merchant program that beats all the others. One program that works for you will not always work for someone else in affiliate marketing. The merchant you are most comfortable with is most likely your best choice, but if you are in doubt, refer back to tip one.

Affiliate Marketing Not Just An Easy Fortune

Posted by | Posted in Marketing, Networking | Posted on 25-08-2009

Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective ways of generating a fulltime income through the Internet and more and more people are being lured to the businesses by promises of success. Like any business, a successful affiliate marketing campaign depends on hard work, advertisements, promotion and selling strategies. As more people begin using affiliate marketing strategies, the competition rises and marketers are forced to come up with more creative, unique and effective ways to appeal to potential customers.

Compared to traditional marketing methods, such as TV and radio commercials and print advertisements, affiliate marketing campaigns are much more effective, risk free and efficient. Why then, are so many affiliates beginning to fail? There are several reasons for affiliate downfalls, the most obvious being the advertising aspect of affiliate marketing. Most marketers lack an understanding of how to promote products and therefore fail when attempting to advertise certain services. To advertise properly you need to invest time and effort and be sure you have created an appropriate budget.

The perfect advertisement needs to represent quality and should be aimed towards specific kinds of media, depending on your target market. Though most affiliate marketers have great business savvy, they are unschooled in the importance and basics of advertising, so they are unable to go very far with their campaigns.

Another area where affiliates often fail is with the design and content of their websites. Internet users are very particular in what they see online and if a site is designed poorly or does not contain the correct information, they will lose their interest and find the products or services theyre searching for elsewhere. Its also important that websites be content rich and filled with keywords so that the site will appear high on search engine listings.

Whether or not you purchase a top level domain name can also make or break your affiliate campaign. A large amount of affiliates dont rank high on search engine pages because their sites are labeled personal rather than professional. Major search engines, such as Google and Yahoo, would think the site is unimportant and small and would not list it at all within their pages. Many marketers also fail because they have not chosen an appropriate name for their site. The name should be catchy and obviously relevant to the service or product your business is providing. The name is the first thing customers see, before they even visit a site, and it has to make them want to continue and see what a website has to offer.

Many are attracted to the affiliate marketing industry by the idea of quickly becoming rich and successful, but it takes a lot of work. Most are unfamiliar with the many aspects of the business and tend to overlook the important things and focus entirely on money. When instant results are not achieved, affiliates will often quit and search for the next new trend in order to make a fortune. If youre serious about affiliate marketing, be smart, take your time and put in the effort, the results will pay off in the long run.

Acquisition, Retention and CRM

Posted by | Posted in Marketing, Networking | Posted on 25-08-2009

Marketing is a difficult concept to grasp but once you get it right you are sure to be heading for success. Three of the most important aspects of marketing are acquisition, retention and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Not only do you need to achieve these things, you also need to maintain them – something that many businesses find a challenge.

Acquisition is the act of gaining new customers through various different methods with the goal of turning potential customers into actual customers. This is a very difficult stage because with so much competition around today, customers are inundated with choices meaning that competition is fierce and customers are more informed. As a result of this people have become more demanding as they know that they have the upper hand. However, this is a very important step in marketing because for most businesses the only way they can grow is through the acquisition of new customers. There are various methods of achieving this from finding customers who weren’t previously aware that the product was available to people who may not have needed the product before maybe needing it now. For example pet food – someone who didn’t previously have a pet but then bought a cat would suddenly need to buy cat food.

There are several different methods of achieving customer acquisition such as mass marketing which includes magazines and billboards and direct marketing such as telesales and through the post. This is probably the most expensive out of acquisition, retention and CRM as a lot of advertising and promotional work is needed. However it is equally as important as the others so is worth the investment.

Although winning new customers is extremely important customer retention is crucial to the life of any business. As it costs considerably less to retain a customer than it does to win new ones, focusing on a retention strategy makes perfect business sense. Studies across a number of industries have revealed that the cost of retaining a customer is only about 10 percent of the cost of acquiring a new one. The main aim of customer retention is to prevent customers from swapping to competitors and to increase customer loyalty and profitability.

Some of the many advantages of customer retention are that long – term customers are less likely to stop using your product or switch to a competitor, they tend to be less price sensitive, they may introduce new customers through referral, they’re more likely to purchase additional products, are less expensive to service because they are familiar with the process and are consistent in their buying behaviour.

CRM involves using software applications that allow companies to manage every aspect of their relationship with a customer and thus turning customer satisfaction into customer loyalty and building longer lasting relationships.

About Global Network Marketing

Posted by | Posted in Marketing, Networking | Posted on 25-08-2009

The old adage nothing ventured, nothing gained implies that while one party ventures, another party denies or grants a gain. At the root of this transaction is the power of negotiation. For the online entrepreneur, it is a tried and true statement that a global marketing network thrives on the power of successful negotiation and without that skill set you will find that you will not adequately harness the power of the Internet.

In its simplest form, negotiation is the art of giving up a little of your prerogative to take a big chunk of the same from the person on the other side of the business deal. Think of it as the tool that will get you what you want if utilized properly, yet that will keep you stifled and unable to accomplish anything at all if not honoured properly and applied conscientiously thereafter.

To successfully negotiate within a global marketing network, you need to first understand negotiation strategies from the point of view of the person with whom you are dealing. Specifically if the person hails from a different country where cultural differences will impact negotiation skills and methodology, you will need to understand what you are getting into prior to the onset of the negotiation session.

Next, you need to know your absolute bottom line. For example, if you must make at least $100 in a deal in order to just break even, would live easier with $150 because it will allow you to rid yourself of a business debt but want to really make $175 because it will not only rid you of the debt but also sock away some money for your own salary, then you will be wise to start your negotiation at a higher vantage point, say $225, so that you will be able to give in somewhat.

Starting much higher will make you seem unreasonable and the other person will know that you are grossly overstating your figure, while starting too low will not give you a lot of negotiation power that allows you to demand ample concessions from the other side in response to your lowering your price. Sometimes global marketing network fail because one party is not familiar with the art of negotiation and will try to simply impose their will on the other business person.

If you are the aggressor, please note that this approach will fail in the long run even if it succeeds in the short run simply because the other business person will not want to come back to the negotiation table with you. Similarly, the only time that an aggressive negotiation technique will pay off for you could be the event of a one time deal where you do not have to foster an amicable atmosphere or generate goodwill that may be advantageous for future global marketing network dealings.

Considering the fact that in the network marketing industry this almost never happens, aggressive tactics should not be utilized unless you are extremely confident that you are in the position of ultimate strength with respect to the negotiation.

A Network Marketing Trend

Posted by | Posted in Marketing, Networking | Posted on 25-08-2009

There’s been a trend I’ve come across of late. Not sure if i’m the only one but this is how it goes. I received an email from someone in Malaysia asking me to join his MLM. Then another 1 from the USA saying join this “MLM now, ride the next big wave.”

This gets to me for 1 reason. Why jump ship and encourage others to do the same? If you’re a Network Marketer, then stay in your MLM business unless its for some earth shattering reason that you wish to change your business. By having to jump ship and tell everyone this is the opportunity to join, it just tells everyone that you need to be at the top to make money, and that there is no longevity in this business.

Why would any one wish to join network marketing when there is no long term stability and wealth, and in order to make it, we need to jump ship and ride a new wave??

A Primary Network Marketing business should be one that you know you will stay with the product even if the business wasn’t there. There are many good products in the market. Shaklee’s good, Myhunza’s good, GDI is good, just to name a few. So if you’re in these businesses, then stay in them. There is no need to quit just because someone asked you to switch.

Products aside, the other important thing is the importance of the team. if you have an up line that is not supportive, it makes things harder, but its not impossible. In other words, for you to succeed, you need to be the sponsor you never had. It also makes you more independent. People who are clingy and needy in this business, or desperate to make a buck online will not succeed at network marketing, whether you’re in Success University, GDI, Nuskin, Mary Kay, whichever business you’re in, you’re going to fail if you don’t learn the RIGHT skills to sell the business and products.

In other words, if you’re relying on your Warm market, creating a list, calling and speaking to friends to join your business, that’s not going to work. People will decide when they’re ready to do network marketing. When people feels its their decision rather then succumbing to hard sell tactics, they will be ready and receptive to become MLM leaders. And leaders are those you want on your team.

And there is another trend, this I will write about soon. Meanwhile, stay in your network marketing business and make the magic happen by becoming that sponsor you never had!

6 Great Work At Home Internet Business Tools

Posted by | Posted in Marketing, Networking | Posted on 25-08-2009

It is funny that most work at home internet business marketers skip the planning and rush into promotions. I am sure that it is the biggest reason, why 95 % of the newbies will fail.

Of course the work at home internet business plan neeeds a lot of studying, before you can start to write it. During that time you just have to avoid all promotions, because you just cannot promote, the skills are missing.

The work at home internet business plan needs a constant finetuning, because the actual promotions will show what works and what does not work. The most important thing is to find out whether the strategy is profitable. All this requires a decent tracking system, because without that you do too much quess work.

The feedback influences mostly on the website content, the non working products must be skipped and new ones must be launched following the strategy. That needs a regular follow up. When a webmaster will execute changes, he has to remember to inform his optin list people about those and also in all ways to try to build up personal contacts with the prospects and the customers.

Use Optin Email Marketing.
The email marketing is a great way to keep contact with the present work at home internet business customers regularly. The best thing is that you can shedule them in advance making the autoresponder to send the messages with inbound links, which grab the clicks and sell your products.

One benefit, which the email marketing has is, that it is the quickest way to reach a big number of target people at the same time. You can also keep personal contacts with your downline with the emails and send useful information, tips and links to related sites.

When a newbie starts his first work at home internet business, his budget is normally very limited, and he needs free or very cheap ways in order to promote his business. It is the job of the upline to suggest these tools for him and also to advice how to use them keeping the targets on a realistic level.

Because the email marketing is seen as a very personal way to communicate, it fits very well for a newbie, if he tells honestly, that he has just started his work at home internet business and needs some support. This same effect you can get also by blogs, which are also in the same way very personal.

If a newbie has a good pen, he can write work at home internet business press releases, which will cost next to nothing but bring a lot of traffic to your website.

Google AdWords is a very targeted medium, but requires a lot of expertise, because the adcopy includes so much small tricks, split testing, huge amount of effective keywords that it may be a little bit too difficult for a newbie.

My recommendation for a work at home internet business newbie is that he should learn first and start to promote after he has got the feeling that he will manage the internet business promotions. Do not hurry, this is not a speed race, this is a know how business. The slower you will proceed, the better results you will get!
