Bonne humeur au quotidien

Posted by | Posted in Computer-Certification, VOIP | Posted on 28-08-2009

VoIP for Business – Great Advantages

Posted by | Posted in VOIP | Posted on 28-08-2009

VoIP, otherwise known as Voice Over Internet Protocol, is a brand new type of technology that allows users to use the Internet to make phone calls. Because of its unique features, VoIP enables people to make phone calls without the typical phone charges. This can be highly beneficial to companies and individuals alike. Let’s take a closer look at Voip.

One of the most appealing advantages of VoIP, over the traditional landline phone service, is that it provides lower costs. VoIP is able to do this since they are not regulated by the FCC and are not required to pay the taxes common to traditional phone companies. VoIP passes these savings onto their customers. Most VoIP providers offer low cost unlimited monthly calling plans. A business can call long distance during peak hours and avoid the expenses associated with traditional phone service. There may be extra fees for international calls, but they are cheaper than the traditional phone company. This will result in substantial savings on the phone bill over the course of a year. Extra services such as caller id and call forwarding are also often included at no additional charge.

VoIP is portable and flexible. With VoIP, data and voice are integrated and do not require separate networks. Sometimes there is a lot of movement in companies resulting in a great deal of work and hassles. With VoIP, if an employee moves, it can now be as easy and quick as simply plugging the IP phone into a different broadband network jack. Also, telecommuting becomes simple and viable. If you need to stay home for the day, you can still be a productive employee. There is also the advantage of having messages sent to email. Now the employee doesn’t have to retrieve their messages from voice mail. In fact, you can even get faxes with email. All your messages are now organized in one place.

Mobility is another key advantage to VoIP. You can keep your area code from anywhere in the world. This eliminates international rates. You can be reached in Australia, using your Texas area code. It will be as if you were making the phone call from your very own office. If you are going to be away for a while, you can see how the savings begin to add up. Virtual phone numbers keep your calls at home, even though you may not be there. Your phone system can go anywhere with you with a simple access to a broadband connection. In addition, you can use your laptop to send and receive messages with a simple microphone and headphone connection.

There are some problems with VoIP since it is still in its growing stages, but these are expected to be resolved in time. The benefits result in lower costs and increased productivity. These are what every business strives for. If this sounds like an attractive outcome for your business then climb aboard the VoIP bandwagon and allow your company to attain its business goals.

Before the introduction of Voip, organizations were using business phone systems like Private Branch Exchange (PBX), Key telephone systems and Key less phone systems (KSU). Although these systems were effective and provided various services like audio conferencing, video conferencing, voice mail systems, etc yet there was something missing from them. They were expensive to install, difficult to maintain and not easily compatible with different systems. So the need was there for a better technology, and Voip came as the answer to those needs. Through Voip, people can stay connected virtually over the internet and take advantage of the integration of internet with video conferencing solutions.

This has created a virtual environment which is a close replica of a physical meeting. Moreover presentations can even be made over the internet through a video conference, thus enabling better video conferencing solutions.

A virtual whiteboard can be created on the screen of every member during the video conference and notes and other information can easily be shared and explained. This has been possible only through the use of a Voip to connect video conferencing systems.

VoIP Calling Charges – Great Way to Save Money

Posted by | Posted in VOIP | Posted on 28-08-2009

VoIP is the abbreviation for what is otherwise known as Voice Over Internet Protocol. By using VoIP, you can save a great deal of money on your phone bill. Let’s take a closer look at how to do this.

VoIP uses the Internet to make calls either through your computer or a phone. You can experience significant savings using this over the more traditional phone services available today. Many VoIP plans offer unlimited calling plans starting at an average of $25 per month and sometimes even lower. This will include all long distance calls. If you happen to have many family and friends, who live far away, that you talk to each month, this could amount to substantial savings.

Can you imagine not being charged by the minute or having to wait for non-peak hours to make your needed phone calls? If you have a business with many locations, you can whittle that long distance bill down to some reasonable charges, saving hundreds even thousands of dollars a year. This will also apply to conference calling. Although international calls are not included under this unlimited calling plan, the rates per minute are cheaper than a regular phone company charges. In fact, you can expect to save anywhere in the area of 40-70%. Some VoIP providers even provide unlimited international calling plans, when calling one of their own VoIP network subscribers. In addition, any PC-to-PC calls are always free to anywhere.

VoIP providers also often bundles premium features in their basic plans for that same one price. These features, such as call interrupt; caller id, voice mail and three-way calling, usually are an extra charge with the traditional services, but result in no additional cost with VoIP. Now you can experience more without paying more for it.

Part of the reason VoIP is cheaper is due to the fact that VoIP does not have the higher taxes and regulatory fees the FCC imposes on a telephone company. The reason for this is because the government recognizes VoIP as data transmission and not voice transmission. You also eliminate any hidden fees or line usage fees as are common with traditional telephone companies.

VoIP is also portable. Since you can take your IP phone with you wherever you go, when you travel, you can avoid either costly long distance fees on your hotel bill or eating up minutes on your cell phone plan. Even if you are hundreds of miles from the office you will have a local number eliminating the ‘long distance’ aspect. It will be like calling from your home location.

There are many ways you can save money with a VoIP service, and it is a reason so many people have signed onto their service. Price is one of its biggest draws. But VoIP also has great potential. People see this and are logging on as subscribers. It really isn’t much of a decision whether to pay high costs for long distance, or get it cheap and even free. Why should you pay more when you don’t have to?

VoIP Basics – What You Need to Know

Posted by | Posted in VOIP | Posted on 28-08-2009

VoIP is the newest Internet phone technology. If you haven’t heard of it, let’s take a look at what it is.

Alexander Graham Bell probably didn’t realize the far-reaching effects his invention of the telephone in 1865 would have. Through the culmination of refinements and technological advances, more than one hundred years later VoIP was released. VoIP is an acronym for Voice Over Internet Protocol. This is the ability to transmit voice over an IP-based network. The ever-growing popular broadband phone service began in 1995 in Israel by some men doing PC-to-PC communications. This was in its basic form from what VoIP is today. The phone system created by Bell, initially seen as a fad for entertainment purposes only, has developed into an enterprising business.

In 1995 Vocaltec released the first Internet phone software. This challenged the traditional Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) system. Data packets sent over the Internet was a system that could avoid long distance costs. The process broke data into small packets and transmitted them to a receiver through routers, with no circuit closings as with traditional PSTN. The receiver’s software would reorder the data packets back in order. In its earliest form, this innovative service allowed free calls to be made between PC’s. The requirement was that both the sender and receiver needed to have the same equipment. The software ran on a home PC, utilized sound cards, speakers, microphone and a modem and used H.323 protocol. Voice quality was poor compared to that on the traditional telephone but that would soon improve.

By 1998, VoIP had garnered less than 1% of the voice traffic. This initial application had many problems. PC to phone followed by phone-to-phone communications was soon established through the use of gateways. The phone transmission would include advertisements at both the beginning and the end of the call to subsidize the costs and allowed companies to offer free calling to their customers. When Ethernet services were introduced, the voice quality issue was greatly enhanced, although static and connection problems between the Internet and PSTN were still prevalent.

Up to this point a computer was needed to establish communications. By 1998, three IP manufacturers, including CISCO, Nortel and Lucent, developed equipment to route and switch IP traffic. Switching capabilities developed, allowed data packet switching into something, which could be read by PSTN. This allowed VoIP to be less dependent on computers. With hardware more reasonably priced, companies began implementing VoIP on their internal IP systems. It also started to be used by long distance carriers. By the year 2000, IP traffic had increased to 3%.
This new technology is continuing its steady growth with 2005 revenues meeting 3 million dollars. Voice quality issues have been addressed and VoIP is able to offer low cost, unlimited calling plans and other services. It is offered to business and residential users. It is an exciting area where changes and developments are abundant. The competitiveness in this area results in better services and cheaper costs. It is a win-win situation for the user. It is the culmination of the explosive new technology introduced in its most primitive stage, by Mr. Bell himself.

VoIP – The Ultimate Calling Solution

Posted by | Posted in VOIP | Posted on 28-08-2009

VoIP which stands for Voice over Internet Protocol is changing the way people think about making long distance phone calls.

VoIP uses technology that can translate analog audio signal, the signal traditionally used for telephone calls, into digital data that can be transmitted over the Internet and translated back to analog at the other end, if necessary. This technology can also be used without traditional phones, bypassing the phone company (and the outrageous fees) altogether. This technology has the potential to completely revolutionize the telephone industry offering a whole range of new choices for the consumer.

It is highly possible that this technology will eventually completely replace the traditional phone system.

There are several ways to take advantage of this new technology including both pay and free services available through the Internet. Some require purchasing new equipment to make and receive phone calls with a traditional telephone and others make and receive calls through your computer using the speakers and a microphone.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both methods with the computer method being available for free, but requiring your computer to be on and connected to the Internet in order to make or receive calls and the traditional phone method usually requiring the purchase of additional equipment and a monthly usage fee. Even with the fee, however, in most cases VoIP would prove to be a considerable savings over the standard telephone company’s bill.

Actually, there is a good chance you are already using VoIP technology without even knowing it. Many of the big-name long distance telephone service providers are already streamlining their networks using VoIP. This technology takes advantage of sending information electronically in the form of packets instead of the traditional method of circuit switching.

By using packets the information is sent only when it is created as opposed the circuit method which leaves a circuit open for the entire duration of the phone call so that there is a constant flow of information in both directions even when only one person is talking or when nobody is talking at all. Since the packet-switching method only sends actual data as it is created there is much less information “traffic” making the whole system much more efficient.

VoIP phone plans usually include all the premium services such as call waiting, caller ID, call forwarding and three-way calling in their one low (or free) fee rather than charging extra for each of these like the regular phone companies do. This provides yet another advantage for the VoIP customer.

There are even more premium features that go beyond what a standard phone company is capable of, such as filtering calls and routing specific phone numbers to either another number or a predetermined recorded message. Imagine sending all telemarketers to a “this phone is no longer in service message.”

The only potential drawback for some customers is not having access to a high-speed Internet connection. This can pose a problem for close to 50% of Americans who are still forced to use traditional dial-up connections. For the other 50%, however, VoIP is a viable alternative to the high phone bills and lackluster service they have been getting for years. The technology is still in its infancy and its popularity is likely to skyrocket in the coming years.
